Can I Keep Two Syrians Hamsters Together
No!! they must be housed alone as the Syrian Hamster is a solitary creature, meaning they prefer to live alone.
Syrian hamsters of the same or opposite sex will not tolerate one another if attempts are made to house them in pairs.
I have heard on occasions that some people have attempted to keep two young Syrians together for months without incident. Litter mates may live together for some time, but on reaching maturity they will begin to fight and will not tolerate another hamster of the same, or opposite sex, litter mates or not.
Dwarf hamsters’ are a more sociable species and may be kept in pairs or small groups, and will live happily together for months on end, but fights are not uncommon between these hamsters.
